If a visitor to your site is not quite yet ready to buy, or if you don’t have exactly what he wants, then he will leave your site anyway. By offering him some other relevant links from google he may well use those to exit your site and make you a bit of money for the click.
I always look at google adsense as potential extra money, and not hope for a regular income from them.
