There is no magic formula, insider knowledge, or one-click software that will make money for you. All those ads that you see for such things are part of the mechanism of making money on the internet but not in the way that people think.

The inernet ‘home business’ or ‘money making’ market is vast. Clever people have put systems in place that, on the surface, look like ways of making money. In reality they are ways of promoting other people websites! The buyer is happy (at first) thinking he is going to make some money, and the seller is very happy having firstly made a sale (money in) and secondly promoted his own or his client’s website. Brilliant.

You need to learn which ‘opportunities’ out there are what I would call a ‘reverse opportunity’ and which are genuine. You would be surprised at just how many ‘reverse opportunities’ there are on the market masquerading as genuine opportunities. Selling these ‘reverse opportunities’ has developed into a market on its own and many people have gotten on board. I will go through these for you later, so that you can spot them for yourself and know which ones to avoid. You might even want to get into selling these ‘reverse opportunities’ yourself. Many people make money from selling them, even though very few buyers make much money from them – if any at all.

There are also many scams out there to be aware of. Some are easy to spot and some are much more subtle. Again, I will go through some of these later so that hopefully you can become more aware and be able to spot these for yourself and avoid them.

Other ‘opportunities’ that you will no doubt be emailed about, or see numerous ads for, are the ‘get rich quick’ schemes that promise to create money almost out of thin air for you. Pyramid schemes (not to be confused with the genuine network marketing programs), HYIP programs, cycler programs, randomisers and various other adaptations on the same theme cannot possibly work for everyone. Apart from being dodgy (or even illegal) as purely money games, they cannot create incomes for everyone who gets involved in them. Some people will make money, usually the organisers and a few others at the top of the ‘tree’, but most people will just lose money. The simple thing to remember is that you cannot just create money from nothing. For someone to make money somebody else must either spend or lose money. Remember that and apply the thought to each ‘miracle’ offer you receive. If it sounds too good to be true you can bet your last dollar that it is.

Now I appreciate that so far this all seems very negative. Don’t worry, there are also many positives. But before you can appreciate the positives and use them to your advantage, it is best to be aware of the negatives and be able to avoid them without having to spend a lot of money learning the lesson. I have been involved in the internet with websites, marketing, and online home businesses since 1995. The first few years were very expensive for me as I learned my lessons the hard way – through my wallet. You can benefit from my mistakes and experience and avoid all of the pitfalls.
